It was back in November when I was lucky enough to be selected to represent Anglian Water on WaterAid's supporter trip to Zambia. Now it is only two weeks away. We fly from Heathrow on Sunday 12 February and I can't wait.
The aim of the trip is to see examples of the work WaterAid does by spending time with local communities and partner organisations. When I return home, I will be able to share my experiences and hopefully encourage others to become involved in such a worthwhile charity.
Zambia has one of the largest fresh water resources in Africa, yet water supply coverage is poor - ranging from 40% in rural areas to around 90% in some urban areas. Sanitation coverage ranges from 51% in rural areas to 55% in urban areas.
We don't know our itinerary yet, but we think we are heading for the Monze district, which is to the south-west of the capital, Lusaka. I'll keep you updated...
